On July 20, the medium-powere junction box MJ03C was installed in the International District hydrothermal vent field on ROPOS Dive R1717. It was connected to a ~2300-m-long cable (RSO3W6) that will connect this system to Primary Node PN3B. Thermistor Array Ready for Testing

The 3D thermistor array designed by RSN Project Scientist Giora Proskurowski is attached to the Medium Powered J-Box (MJ03B) in the ASHES hydrothermal field. In 2014, the array was deloyed in a diffuse flow site at the base of the vent called Mushroom, along with a high-definition video camera and an osmo vent fluid sampler. VISIONS '13, Leg 4

Low- and Medium-Power Junction Boxes and Low-Voltage Nodes on the OOI Cabled Array direct power and communications to experimental sites. This infrastructure provides 375 Vdc to 12 V power to sensor arrays on the seafloor and on water-column moorings, and 10 Gb/s to 1 Gb/s bandwidth. Eight instrument ports provide 12 to 48V and 10/100BASE-T, RS232 or RS485 data links. Nodes can be daisy-chained, thereby providing extensive expansion capabilities for future science and education efforts.
