Instruments installed in Axial Caldera and at its base, as part of the OOI Cabled Array, include those that measure physical, biological, chemical, and geological parameters to better understand the complex processes that operate within/on the volcano and overlying water column. These processes include earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, currents, and hydrothermal flow with linkages to biological communities.
