NOAA-PMEL - Director: Earth and Ocean Interactions, Newport OR
Research Professor CIMRS, Oregon State University
Bill Chadwick is a volcanologist with Oregon State University and NOAA/PMEL. He got hooked on studying active volcanoes after Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980 when he was a senior geology major at Colorado College. St. Helens became the focus of his graduate work at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he earned his PhD. Since then he has studied submarine volcanoes using sonars, submersibles and seafloor monitoring instruments.
